my marae trip

He era Mai  on Monday the 18th of  August we went to Te Tahwai marae.  We first had to get ready at school and wait for the bus to arrive. When the bus arrive we went straight to the marae, when we got there we were called in with our karaga when we got called in we had to take off our shoes because the whare was special. We were the manuhiri the visitors and they were the tangata whenua is the owner of the land.

When we first got in there we saw the Maori art work the kofaifai

we started off with our speeches Bronson said his speech and they said theirs as soon as possible when Bronson said his speech they apologized to Bronson because there was no older man to say thank you for being brave and giving it a go. As soon as we finished our speeches we went to wash our hands and eat some kai first we had to wait in the wharekai the dining room.

Then we did some art we had to copy some patterns on a piece of paper from different types of ancestors. When we finished our art we had to to move to the poi dancing we learnt a new dance of a Maori music and poi dancing.

when we had done we had to thank them for having us over to their marae and they said thank you for coming to our marea.  I think it was really fun at the marae and i hope we could go back next year.

THEA STILTON AND THE SPANISH DANCE MISSON

So the book the Spanish dance mission is about Thea Stilton who had been announced about traditional dancing.  When Thea got home she received a letter saying,

my giant story

There once lived 2 children named Charlie and Zack  and their mother Katie  and father John.  They lived in a forest.  Their father told Zack and Charlie to buy some groceries. Charlie didn't feel like it but zack didn’t mind, as they were walking they heard a women screaming and her baby crying when they looked they saw a humungous giants  running everywhere they were really terrified  so they ran and stole everything but a cruel mean and ugly giant spot them and picked them up and said “WHAT ARE YOU DOING” as they were stuck with the giant for a while charlie bit the Giants finger and as loud as ever the giant screamed as loud as he could.

And dropped them straight on the ground.

As it continued the father was really worried because his wife has finished work when his wife katie came home she asked “where are the kids John” ummm “I sent them out to get some groceries and they took a very long and didn’t returned for 3 hours. oh no we better hurry or there will be more trouble. I’ll bring my safety kit the father had his safety kit incase of any emergencies and to him this was an emergence they ran in the woods they weren’t there so they ran in town the saw the large giant and spotted their children the father looked in his safety kit and found a king size ax and went to any giant he could see and chopped their legs off  and ran as far as they can and never saw the giants again!

THE MYSTERY ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

The sun was just coming out over the Bosporus, streaking the sky. Thea Stilton was in a hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. She was also in the middle of a snow storm.  The  Thea sister Paulina,violet,Nicky,Pamela and Colette were going on the train trying to catch the thief because the thief stole the fabulous wedding dress that was from long long ago.  

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Charlie and the chocolate factory is about a young boy named charlie bucket which has a really poor family he’s the only child he lives with his two grandmas and grandpas. One day charlie heard that if you buy a chocolate bar and you find a golden ticket you could win a trip to Mr Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. So when it was charlie’s birthday his mother and father bought him a chocolate bar but when he opened it there was no ticket but he was fine about it.  That day charlie went for a walk as he was walking he found a $10 dollar note it was like a miracle so he went to the store and bought him a chocolate bar and found a golden ticket

Ok children the seniors are going to explore the museum says the lady who welcomed us. As I heard the lady say seniors in the museum i was full of excitement I just want to sneak out and just discover the museum all by my self as she said we could go I was about to push everyone out of my way and be the first one to see it when I arrived there I see everyone surrounding  something in a small group a I rush there as fast as I  can to see what is happening I hear someone shout out oh my gosh it the chair that Mary Mackillop.

I pushed everyone and just to see it. I say to myself  I can not believe it. This is the chair that Mary Mackillop sat on. I  put my palm  on Marys chair and i say to my friends “I  touched it I really touched it “

To me this felt like this is the best day of my life and i’m sure i will never forget this day.

I walk through the park I hear the light breeze come upon me like a little bird cheeping its  favorite song in the morning,  I look at the leaves and see them drop down they looks like little pebbles just falling off a little branch.The young boy is wearing a bright dark orange t-shirt like a juicy yummy orange. And  I also see his brand new dark blue converse. The young boys father is wearing a darkie light  blue t-shirt and a fading  pair of jeans. I could hear the bench crackling and the others with no one but the wind. It sounds like a ghost whispering a deep secret to someone special.My dad and I had a discussion about what i'm going to do in the future.

He was going on and on about what i’m going to do in the future he said “son what inspires you the most he asked” “umm I do love soccer and I would  also like  to be a famous soccer player when I grow up” okay soccer is fine “yeah” it will feel great hearing the crowd  cheering for my team “yeah that will be awesome” so if you were in a team what will you name it? “Hmmm i’ll call it the miners” i’ll be so proud of you if you make…………..team?

“You will need to practice soccer everyday to get better and better and also go to international soccer tournaments”  I wonder how fathers and son get along so quickly.    

 

Esio trot

This book Esio trot is about a man who owns a tortoise named Esio trot who is so tiny but his owner tells him to gain more weight so then the owner feed his tortoise more and more lettuce so that his tortoise gets bigger,bigger and bigger.My favorite part is when his owner sends a letter which does not make sense but he told the ladies its spelled backwards.  And also did you know that if you spell tortoise backwards it spells Esio trot. I recommend this for children ages 7-10.

“Hahahaha that was funny uncle Tony”I say. As we finished our dinner of fish and chips we begin a midnight walk on the beach. As I turned my back I see that the fire has already been lit. The fire is so warm  I don't feel like moving at all. It is so comfortable I don't want to leave. I look up in the sky the stars, are glimmering as if they are a golden treasure. When I looked again I shouted “there they are the seven stars”

My Writing sample

As I walk along the  beach I see two young boys building a sandcastle. I could hear the wave of the beach roaring like a tiger every second when it needs something. And when the waves come back and forward its  like a tsunami  is about to hit as it starts to get bigger and bigger. The two little children are building a palace and I imagine  that I was right in the palace with lights made out of sand and the walls,carpets. As the boys feet touch the soft sand it looks like soft melting sugar ready to be glazed on a dessert.

As I look at the sand the sharp shells it looks  like pencils poking you every 1 second. I could hear the families playing at the back and having a time of their  life. So the two little boys decided to make a bigger sand castle as one of the boys turned around to get some sand the middle of the suns core catched my eyes and I can not bear to look at it any more.  When I look upon the sky I can see the thick clouds trying to cover the sun because it shining so bright like the sun shining on a mirror and all I hear seagulls  yelling for their  food.  

The Thea sisters and the Blue Scarab Hunt Book Review

The Thea sisters had to try to find the treasure which is called the treasure of the sun. As the Thea sisters were talking a woman named Dunya over heard the sisters talking about the treasure and asked if they needed help to find it. She really wanted the treasure to herself. My favourite part in the book was when Dunya tried to trick the Thea sisters.  I recommend this book for students who are ages 8-10 years.

Bulls are ungulates, an ungulate is an animal with hooves. Bulls are mammals and they are herbivores, that means that they only eat plants. Bulls can be brownish and sometimes black. They have really hard horns and very hard feet. Bulls use their horns to fight. They have really soft hair. They are really big animals.

Bulls often like to get into fights. They fight with their horns Sometimes they keep on fighting until one of them dies . They make eye contact when they want to fight. Bulls charge with their horns. Bulls live in the open land and near forests. The farmer uses the bull's fur to make leather coats. Bulls protect themselves by staying in a herd or with other cattle. They were tamed for farming. Why do bulls get angry when they see the colour red?

Bulls don't hate the colour red they are colour blind.If a bull sees the colour red on a cloth they charge for the fabric.The colour of the object has nothing to do with it they just charge at the movement of the fabric not the colour. The colour red has a wavelength of 650nm. These two receptors are blue and yellow.

When is  the best time to catch there prey?

Bulls are herbivore. They don't have a prey unless you consider grass to be the prey.

Why do bulls live on grass?

They have evolved over hundreds  of thousands of years, to have a digestive. A four chambered stomach is this key to a ruminants  abilities to break down fiber, cellulose, hemi - cellulose  and linen that is  commonly found in plant material to get the good stuff.

When  the Polynesians came from New Zealand to the Chatham  Islands they had to adapt or change their  way of doing things.

Firstly when they came to these Islands they couldn't  grow  their veges because they would die fast because of the coldness, so they had to eat a lot of fish and paua .The  Moriori people built a new type of boat.They used bundle of reeds which made the floor and sides of the waka. The kelp helped the waka float. The two runners were shaped like bull horns and were made out of wood. The two pallet runners on the bottom of the hull formed the backbone of the waka.
